Xavier Léon (21 May 1868, Boulogne-Billancourt - 21 October 1935, Paris) was a French philosopher and historian of philosophy. In 1893 Léon – together with Élie Halévy and others – helped found the French philosophical journal ''Revue de métaphysique et de morale''. Léon remained editor of the journal until his death in 1935,〔William G. Holzberger, ed., ''The Letters of George Santayana, Volume 3'', p.170 n.1〕 when he was succeeded by Dominique Parodi.〔 In 1900 he founded the International Congress of Philosophy,〔André Lalande, 'Principal Publications on the Philosophy of the Sciences brought out in France since 1900', in Marvin Farber, ed., ''Philosophic thought in France and the United States'', 1968, p.175〕 and in 1901 the Société Française de Philosophie.〔Paul Edwards, ed., ''The encyclopedia of philosophy'', vol. 6, 1967, p.204〕 He wrote extensively on Johann Gottlieb Fichte.
